FAQ

Which illnesses can the Swan Lake Centre help you with:

  • Depression
  • Panic
  • Anxiety
  • Burnout
  • OCD
  • Personality disorders
  • Addiction (alcohol, drugs, prescription drugs, gambling etc.)
  • Psychosomatic disorders

How long will the treatment last?

The period of treatment is generally 1-3 months depending on the type and seriousness of the problem, but we give individual advice to each patient and the actual length of treatment will be decided during the course of therapy.

Why is residential treatment necessary?

The essence of our method is that we welcome patients in peaceful, natural conditions away from their normal surroundings. In the course of group and individual activities, we not just deal with concrete problems but also help develop healthy habits (exercise, diet, attitude to life). Our intensive program is only feasible in a residential format.

I’ve already been in hospital. How is Swan Lake different to a hospital psychiatric ward?

The emphasis in hospital psychiatric wards is on treatment with medication, complemented with some group activities. The Swan Lake Centre only provides medication where justified. The emphasis is on psychotherapy and the development of the patients’ everyday skills (communication, assertiveness etc.) and a healthy attitude to life.

What guarantee is there that the treatment is effective over the long term and that I won’t relapse? And if I do relapse then what should I do?

The effectiveness of the treatment mainly depends on the cooperation of the patient and the length of the stay (sufficiently long, but not too long). Aftercare, skills learnt at the Centre, and the permanence of the approach all help, and the therapy community offers support.

Is it possible to stay in contact with the Centre to help retain what is learnt there?

Our weekend aftercare program and email list help our patients and specialists to stay in contact with each other.

How can I Apply?

Contact us by email (info@swanlake.org) or telephone (+44 7909 274 377) and arrange an appointment for a consultation through Skype or personal one at our Centre. During the consultation, we will make a proposal for treatment and after accepting this you can even start therapy with us straight away.

Does the crew speak English?

Our staff speak English and all individual and group sessions are held in English.
